Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the Lord delivers him in times of trouble.  The Lord will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.  The Lord will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness.
    Psalm 41:1-3

Make no little plans.  They have no magic to stir men’s blood and probably themselves will not be realized.
    Daniel Hudson Burnha

In the scriptures God has torn the curtain of truth at one corner.

“(While Leonardo Da Vinci was painting the Last Supper) The prior complained of Leonardo’s apparent sloth, and wondered why he would sometimes sit before the walls for hours without painting a stroke. Leonardo has no trouble explaining to the Duke that an artists most important work lies in conception rather than in execution, and ‘men of genius do most when they work least’.”
    Will Durant “The Renaissance”

“The Bible shows the way to go to heaven, not the way the heavens go… I give infinite thanks to God, who has been pleased to make me the first observer of marvelous things… I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.”
    Galileo Galilei

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts.”

Genius is seldom recognized for what it is: a great capacity for hard work.

The principal office of history I take to be this:  to prevent virtuous actions from being forgotten, and that evil words and deeds should fear an infamous reputation with posterity.

One thing I’ve noticed about those in favor of abortion – they’ve already been born.

The real freedom of any individual can always be measured by the amount of responsibility which he must assume for his own welfare and security.

The following thoughts are from a college friend, Dwight Schwartz. He did post-doctoral work in physical chemistry and has tremendous insight. He and his wife now work for Intervarsity ministering to graduate students

God created me – and you – to live with a single all-embracing, all-transforming passion – namely, a passion to glorify God by enjoying and displaying his supreme excellence in all the spheres of life. . . .
That phrase “all spheres of life” is exactly what intrigues me in the context of ministry to graduate students and professors. . . .  I as a Christian (with a vested interest in academia) want to encourage Christians to uncover the majesty of God and to explain it to the church and to the world, in such diverse areas as protein chemistry and physics. environmental engineering, soccer, painting, and culinary arts.  Maybe someone is tempted to ask, “Does God really care about those things?”  Maybe this question is easier:  ”Are the physical and studyable things of this world distractions carefully crafted by God to cause us to forget who God is, or are they windows looking out upon vast stretches of his handiwork?”

A mind all logic is like a knife all blade – it makes the hand bleed that uses it.
    Rabindranath Tagore

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication
